The first cohort of Justice First Fellows and representatives from their host organisations attended a conference yesterday organised by The Legal Education Foundation. It was an opportunity for the Fellows and Hosts to meet and discuss the aims of the Fellowship Scheme. Subjects covered were:
- Understanding the attributes of leaders in the Social Welfare Law Sector.
- Capturing the impact of the work done by Fellows and Hosts as part of the Fellowship Scheme.
- Measuring outcomes – working together to evidence the impact of Fellow led projects.
The nine fellows each gave short presentations on their background and proposed project which they will carry out over the next two years as part of their Fellowship Programme.
The initial Fellows are:

- Deirdre Flanigan – Govan Law Centre
- Maryam Hussain – Deighton Pierce Glynn
- Nadia Hussain – Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit
- Fanny Lise Forest – Coventry Law Centre
- Helen Roberts – Speakeasy Advice Centre
- Debra Robinson – Staffordshire North & Stoke-on-Trent Citizens Advice Bureaux
- Amber Rowsell – Coram Children’s Legal Centre
- Katy Watts – The Public Law Project
