LEF grant partners and Justice First Fellows were celebrated at the 2024 Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (LALY) awards in July. The LALY awards honour the commitment and dedication of individuals and organisations working in the legal social justice field. LEF is a sponsor of the awards, and members of our staff team were delighted to attend July’s ceremony in support of the shortlisted grant partners and Fellows.
Rose Pritchard of Community Law Partnership (LEF grant partner) won in the Housing Law category and Public Interest Law Centre (LEF grant partner) won in the Legal Aid Firm/Not-for-Profit Agency category. Esme Madill of Islington Law Centre and Ollie Persey of Garden Court Chambers, both alumni Justice First Fellows, won in the Social Welfare Law and Legal Aid Newcomer categories respectively.
Two more LEF grant partners, Harrow Law Centre and Wilsons Solicitors, were shortlisted in the Legal Aid Firm/Not-for-Profit Agency category. Congratulations to all those celebrated by the awards, and to the LALYs for continuing to ensure that frontline social justice legal work receives the recognition it deserves.
