Grant: £10,000
November 27, 2013
The purpose of the project is to bring eight young Welsh people from less advantaged backgrounds who are about to undertake their GCSE examinations and those who are in the first year of sixth form to London for a week to learn about the legal profession to stimulate their interest in becoming lawyers. Students are provided with three days’ work-shadowing experience in barristers’ chambers, solicitors’ practices and courts, respectively. There also visit Parliament, to view a moot at Gray’s Inn, and meet with current law students. A soft skills training session from an admissions officer from one of the London universities will speak to the students about university applications, and there will be a mock university interview.
