Katy Watts, Justice First Fellow, and a Channel 4 documentary on “Turing’s Law”

Katy Watts, one of the Foundation’s first Justice First Fellows, appears in a documentary on More 4 talking about work she developed whilst on the Fellowship scheme. Katy undertook her Fellowship at Public Law Project and is now employed there as a solicitor. Her Fellowship project looked at “Alan Turing’s Law”.

Katy wrote about this work in The Independent in October 2016:

“The Government announced this week that thousands of men with historic convictions for consensual gay sex offences will be posthumously pardoned. It also announced a pardon for the living, estimated to be as many as 15,000 men. What the announcement failed to mention is how difficult it will be for the men living with a conviction for consensual gay sex to actually receive a pardon.”

CONVICTED FOR LOVE tells the story of four gay men who have faced discrimination over their homosexuality and, despite Turing’s Law, continue to experience injustice.

The programme will air on More 4 at 10.00 pm on Monday 10th July.
