Rebecca Gray joins the LEF board

We’re excited to announce that Rebecca Gray has joined the Legal Education Foundation board as a Trustee.

Rebecca started her career working in communications and public affairs, and has since held senior roles at the Kings Fund, in a number of health regulators and at national charities. She has a particular interest in how communications and policy impact practice and behaviour.

Rebecca is currently chief executive of Maudsley Charity, which funds research, clinical care improvement and community based projects related to mental health. The Charity has a particular emphasis on improving care, treatment and support for those most failed within mental health care systems and society. She has previously been a trustee of the Point of Care Foundation.

Rebecca says: “The Legal Education Foundation is able to influence change in so many different ways, through fellowships, grants to community organisations and its influencing work. That mix of more immediate impact on the ground and long-term system-wide change is very powerful. I work for another funder focused on mental health and there are clear connections with the work of the Foundation. I’m really looking forward to finding out much more about law and justice and hope I can bring insight from a different but related area of work.”

LEF’s Chief Executive Matthew Smerdon says: “We are delighted to welcome Rebecca to the Foundation. She brings a wealth of experience around grantmaking, influencing and social justice which will support us as we complete our current strategic plan and work through the next phase of our development.”
