The Foundation also announced an additional £500,000 in grants has been awarded to 22 new projects which brings its total financial support to over £5 million with 67 projects since its launch in January 2013. New grantees include

TLEF Chairman, Guy Beringer said: "Our additional focus on how technology and research can help us achieve our broader goals has led us to these two important Governor appointments. We welcome them to the team and believe their appointment will help the Foundation to make a real difference."

The Manchester Lord Mayor attended The Legal Education Foundations networking event on 3 April 2014 at the Manchester Civil Justice Centre.
Less than one year on from its official launch, the Foundation has granted over 1.2 million to over 25 diverse projects and organisations around the UK. The event in Manchester provided a platform for many of those projects to showcase their causes to the legal and charitable communities.
"All of the projects show innovative solutions to helping people understand, improve and provide better access to our legal system."
LEF CEO, Matthew Smerdon, said "We were very pleased to see the interest from the Manchester community in the local projects we have funded. From running mock trials to teach primary school children about the law to training programmes to help barristers manage vulnerable witnesses all of the projects show innovative solutions to helping people understand, improve and provide better access to our legal system."
